Mark Reynolds is expected to serve as the Orioles' primary first baseman during the 2012 season. Reynolds, who has always been a sub-par defender at the hot corner, was moved off third base last year by O's manager Buck Showalter. And unless the Baltimore front office makes a surprise free agent signing before spring training, that will be the setup heading into the upcoming season. Reynolds will still have fantasy eligibility at third and remains a valuable mixed-league commodity.
This from Rotoworld. Does this just move Davis to DH and Reynolds at 1B? Or Davis at 3B?

According to MLB.com's Britt Ghiroli, Mark Reynolds is going to "get another shot" at third base. Reynolds made 26 errors at the hot corner last year and was eventually moved away from the position, but the O's don't have a better option at the moment. Chris Davis will open 2012 as Baltimore's starting first baseman.

Yep my memory was way off, Davis is a horrible fielder. Putting either of them at 3B is asking for trouble. Word on the street is that the Orioles offered the Blue Jays' Assitant 3B their full time MLB job but he said "nah, I'm just gonna hold tight".
Tough to do for Milwaukee. Earlier in the offseason Roenicke said he viewed Weeks as a 4 hitter this year, but then we signed A-Ram. Of course Braun will likely miss 50 games, so who knows. If I had to guess based on what I've seen/read to this point, maybe something like:
1. Nyjer Morgan CF 2. Norichika Aoki LF 3. Aramis Ramirez 3B 4. Rickie Weeks 2B 5. Corey Hart RF 6. Mat Gamel 1B 7. Alex Gonzalez SS 8. Jonathan Lucroy C
Only problem with that configuration is that Morgan will sit against lefties in favor of Carlos Gomez, and there's no way Gomez leads off. So Roenicke could end up going with Hart leading off all the time again this year, I don't know. With Braun back I might anticipate something like:
1. Corey Hart RF 2. Nyjer Morgan CF 3. Ryan Braun LF 4. Aramis Ramirez 3B 5. Rickie Weeks 2B 6. Mat Gamel 1B 7. Alex Gonzalez SS 8. Jonathan Lucroy C
I didn't know Morgan was so bad against LH pitchers, but damn he is brutal. could Norichika Aoki be an every day leadoff hitter? if/WHEN Braun misses his 50 games I Iimagne they could go with OF of Hart/Morgan(Gomez)/Aoki, but when Braun is in the lineup maybe Morgan and Gomez could both be on the bench. I guess it depends how productive Norichika Aoki can be. Norichika Aoki didn't play in 2011? looking at some numbers on thebaseballcube.com. unless it just wasn't updated. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/ ... Aoki.shtml

the Rockies are set to acquire Red Sox infielder Marco Scutaro.
Troy Renck of the Denver Post hears that the Rockies are close to acquiring Marco Scutaro from the Red Sox. Very interesting. It would be a risky move from the Red Sox perspective, as their alternatives for shortstop include Mike Aviles, Nick Punto and young Jose Iglesias, but the Rockies have been looking for a second baseman all offseason. Scutaro, 36, .299/.358/.423 with seven home runs, 54 RBI and a .781 OPS in 2011.
Scutaro could play 2B in Colorado. does he end up batting near the top of the order, maybe 2nd? he could be a good sleeper.
who plays SS for Boston? Aviles gets the first shot? Aviles would likely only bat 9th, but that's still a good spot in front of the top of the lineup. plus Aviles comes with eligibility at 2B/3B/SS.
