Dynasty Trade - WHIR

Postby Orko31 » Thu Dec 29, 2011 3:41 am

14 team, dynasty, h2h, pts-based

I'm the defending champ and am really not sure if this is the right move (I acquired Wieters for Adam Lind, Mike Adams, Brody Colvin earlier this offseason). I added a lot of age on offense (Mike Young/Beltran/N Cruz) during my run in order to keep my best specs.

I give James Shields, Matt Wieters, Brian Matusz
I get Miggy Cabrera

My team:

C) Napoli (qualifies at 1b)
1b) Mike Young (qualifies at 2b/3b)
2b) Pedroia
3b) Lawrie
SS) Hanley
LF) Morrison
CF) C Young
RF) Beltran
DH) N Cruz (LF/RF)
Bench) Wieters, Ike Davis, Hardy, R Roberts (2B/3B), Willingham (prob will be dropped because I need to make room for others)

SP) Verlander, Weaver, Shields, Gallardo, Anibal, T Hudson, McCarthy, Dickey, Johan, Matusz, Matt Moore (we are allowed a max of 8 starts per week)
RP) Madson, Marshall, D Hernandez, Romo (note - saves/holds identical in pts)
Top specs: Moore, Shelby Miller, Archie Bradley, Grandal, Sano, Singleton, B Starling, Taveras, Choice (also have catcher Sal Perez in my minors for 100 more abs...no takers so far)

Questions:

1) Do I go w/ a round robin at C/1b for now or acquire Miggy?
2) Adding Miggy would push one of Cruz, Morrison, Beltran, or Lawrie to the bench. Is it worth it and who rides the pine?
3) Do I have enough SP to make the move if necessary?

I'd make this trade in a hurry, it's a huge steal for you. I'm a big fan of getting the best player in the deal and Miggy is the best player by a huge margin in this deal. You can always rotate in players based on off days and injuries (it's not like beltran and cruz are a picture of health), or just deal someone to fill a hole elsewhere later on. You can definitely take the hit to your rotation especially seeing as how you can only make 8 starts a week anyways. For now, just take the deal and worry about anything else later, this deal is too good to pass up.

Thumbs up here. Losing Wieters sucks a little, but when you have the chance to add a bat like Miggy you do it. Having Moore and Miller coming up soon, Shields is easily expendable.

Yeah, do it. Especially since your points system favors CG - Shields will be this valuable again. Worry about how to juggle your lineup later - it's never a bad thing to have depth when you've got Nelson Cruz.

Getting Mcab for that package is a steal. Make the deal and worry about benching Morrison or Beltran at a later date.
