Just made two trades:

Sent Coghlan for a 4th RD pick in our rookie draft

Sent: Norris, Scherzer, Lind, Robertson, and prospects Zack Wheeler, Stetson Allie, and Kyle Seager
Recieved: J Upton, U Jimenez, Choo

I like these trades for you, though I seem to be in the minority as far as expecting a good year from Ubaldo is concerned. Upton is an elite keeper and Choo has been excellent in the past and hopefully will rebound to that for you as well. Wheeler being a Met almost assures he'll either get hurt or end up sucking.

first deal is fine for minor league depth, coghlan doesn't have much value. second deal is sweet for you, pretty much any time you can deal a bunch of small pieces for a stud like upton is awesome. getting ubaldo and choo is just icing on the cake.

I don't have a 3B as of now, so Young would certainly fill that. I've also had talks with another in getting Freese in return for a starter like Santana. Not sure which route to go.

I like it. I'd give up Jeff Franceour over Santana. You're getting back a reliable 3B, a replacement for Kendrick and a very nice post-hype guy in Smoak, who could really break out next year. You're downgrading a little at two positions to get a good 3B in Young, and I have no problem with that.

I like the deal as well. And I think both Walker and Smoak have some upside too. Young at 3B certainly helps improve your team.
