At least we know the Rangers can't afford another big addition. Hopefully the pressure on the Jays from the quashed hope increases their max limit on Fielder. 7/180. Get it done.

Rogers has never been pressured into doing something by fans before. Would surprise me to see it happen now.

did they release the jays' bid amount? hard to call it non-spending unless we know they severely under bid. for all we know the jays could have been barely edged out, it's not like any old bid would have won it.
Nothing's been released, but you'd have to think something will be leaked if they bid a significant amount. They'll want to let the fans know they tried. I just like bashing Rogers, though, it's easy. If they're really committed to winning in the future, there's no reason not to have an offer out on Fielder now.
The Rangers have until 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday to work out a contract with Japanese right-hander Yu Darvish. The Rangers secured an exclusive 30-day negotiating window with a record $51,703,411 posting fee last month. Most expect a deal will get done, but T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reported early Wednesday morning that the Rangers' optimism had "waned" a bit. Darvish is believed to be looking for a five-year deal in the range of $75 million while the Rangers have reportedly offered a contract similar to the six-year, $52 million deal Daisuke Matsuzaka signed with the Red Sox in December of 2006.
so what happens if there is no contract by the today? is that posting fee already gone and can't be returned? if there is no contract, Darvish has to return and play for Japan?

If there's no deal than the Rangers get their posting fee back.
I'd assume Darvish goes back to his team and would have to be posted again next year.
There's nothing more exhilarating than pointing out the shortcomings of others, is there?

If theres no contract by the deadline, Darvish will return to the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters of Japan’s Pacific League and the Rangers wouldn’t pay the posting fee.
edit: Oh well I got beat by couple of secs.

I think Texas won the post with no intention of signing Darvish. They just didn't want another AL team to get him this year while they make another WS push.
