the Rangers knew they bid $51.7 million. I guess we wont know what the Jays bid, but obviously they know what they bid, right? couldn't the Jays and Rangers have (secret) talks and inform one another what they bid? then you could have leaks, because leaks happen. word could have came out days ago.

But the suspense!

@BudSeIig Allan Huber Selig Its Official, the Toronto Blue Jays have won the bidding for SP Yu Darvish at $52 000 000 (US)
Whose twitter was that?
I did a simple search for "Jays". that was one of the results that came up. I didn't even check the actual account, just copy/pasted the tweet itself. I assumed it was thee Bud Selig and that was the official announcement. it's not a verified account. I also see that tweet is now gone, and there's a correction that the Rangers won from that account.
This is a huge loss for the Blue Jays who will now likely finish 4th in the division instead of 4th.
That hits the nail right on the head.

forget the Rangers for a minute. the Jays were hoping to win the rights and sign this potentially great pitcher. so what do the Jays do now? they still need pitching. can they now go out and make a trade for someone? maybe they get more involved for Gio Gonzalez? what?
