he will cover what ever needs to be done to get me under the cap just for this year
I get the most talent, but I also get the most salary added to my team thoughts
Does Trout remain at 0 for all of 2012 or does his salary go up once he reaches the bigs for good? That is my big question.
The trade definitely helps you since you're getting 2 major stars in Prince and Reyes. You have a solid SP staff, so Lee is somewhat expendable here. Werth at $10 million is high, so getting rid of that would be good. The only thing holding me back personally is Trout and his salary of $0. That is great value.
Is is possible to deal CC in a similar type of deal? His salary doubles Lee's and Lee is a little bit better. Would help your cap situation tremendously too.
Generally with Rookies they are 300,000-414,000 depending what their salary was the year before. So we are using salaries from 2011 this year and next year we will use the salaries from 2012. so trout is 300,000 this year
So say you do this trade, you are taking in an extra $10 million, which puts you about $5 million or so over the cap. To make this work, you need to trade either Coco Crisp or JJ Hardy (whoever you like less). That will get you under the cap.
Prince and Reyes are big stars, Victorino is solid too. On the other end, Lee is an an ace, Trout is great value but you also shed Werth's overpaid salary. If you can find a decent #5 SP somewhere, I'd do the trade.
Just remember that doing this trade will destroy your payroll next season when Reyes and Fielder have their salaries balloon. For a win now strategy then this is a no-brainer trade.

Agreed. Your big problem isn't this year but next year when you don't get salary cap help and you have all of this expensive talent. So if you are looking to win this year and then blow it all up next year, go for it but prepared to have some rebuilding after this.
