If the Jays actually signed Fielder (though I'm not seeing the cheap Rogers spend that much), you can be sure that they'd also sign Kelly Johnson too. It would be a sign they'd be all-in on 2012.
Lawrie's not getting moved, unless they're left with Mike McCoy at 2B or something. He was too exceptional defensively for them to really consider that.
Lind can't hit lefties, so he's no full-time player. I'd assume he'd be dealt or platooned if they got another 1B.

I think the Jays getting Luis Valbuena to potentially man 2B was the sign they are all in.
Valbuena! Valbuena! Valbuena!

I thought AA pretty much despised contracts longer than 5 years (which it will undoubtedly take to sign Fielder) or committing A-Rod type money to a single player. It just doesn't seem like the type of move he would make unless they were that one big player away from competing.
And Rogers despises spending money at all. Still, you should be embracing the possibility that a good hitter could go to an AL East team that isn't the Yankees or Red Sox...even if it's incredibly unlikely.
