In all honesty the team doesn't look that bad, other than the offensive black hole up the middle with Alcides/Getz/Cain.
Escobar has actually been great so far offensively. Above and beyond what you would expect from a guy who is basically on the team because of his plus glove. Surprisingly the offensive struggles have nothing to do with Escobar, Getz, and Betancourt. It has been Hosmer, Gordon, and Francouer that have really hurt the team so far at the plate (ok the last one isn't that big of a surprise). The team has been completely inept at hitting with RISP, has an amazing knack for hitting into double plays, and haven't been real smart on the base paths.
The starting pitching wasn't good heading into the season so that facet struggling isn't any sort of shock, the bullpen has been good even without Soria except for Holland who was downright pathetic leading up to his DL trip. Yost finds a way to make at minimum one move a night that just completely baffles the mind whether it is through lineups or bullpen usage.
It all really boils down to that middle of the order starting to hit consistently, once that happens they will be fine. They probably have dug enough of a hole that it is going to take a miracle to finish over .500 though.
