Hey guys, I have six very strong keepers but we can only carry over four. I'm in a standard 260 roto auction league with two extra cats, OPS and Total Bases. My keepers choices are as follows: Mike Stanton @11 Jacoby Ellsbury @26 Carlos Santana @11 Desmond Jenning @6 Starlin Castro @11 Michael Pineda @6
Seems to me Stanton, Ellsbury, Santana are locks. It's the fouth that I'm unsure of. At this point I'm leaning pretty hard for Jennings. Also, I will certainly be looking to make a three for one offer for an upgrade. But there's not many owners holding keepers that are more valuable that my top four, IMO. So I might have to send two back into the player pool, ugg .
You scoring heavily favor power guys. Jennings would be my last keeper too. Hopefully you start more than 3 OF'ers? I'd be shopping Ellsbury, Castro & Pineda.
Consensus on the top 3, and I agree it's either Jennings or Castro for the last spot. Your league's settings do heavily favor power hitters, so it's up to you to decide which player you think develops more power. Personally, I'm a believer in Starlin. I do see him developing above-average power for a SS. I didn't see the league size, but generally as the size of the league goes up, position scarcity becomes more of a factor. Even starting 5 OF, I think I'd want Starlin and a mid-tier OF than Jennings and whatever bottom of the barrel SS you can get.
However, this isn't a clear-cut situation. You can't go wrong either way and honestly this boils down to your gut feeling about these two guys.
It's a 14 team league. I have an owner sitting on Bautista for 11 next year and will certainly try to package Castro, Jennings, and Pineda for a huge upgrade on my fourth keeper.
