If it's not copyrighted stuff, yes I believe SOPA/PIPA will. However, SOPA finally got shelved. The popular web blackouts including wikipedia tomorrow are still due to happen.

SOPA hearings resume next month and thus, it's surely not dead, not by a longshot.

Meanwhile, the MPAA calls the blackouts and/or protests to SOPA (and PIPA) an "abuse of power".

I don't know enough about this, but can this really lead to complete shut down of sites like youtube, twitter, facebook, google, wikipedia ??
seems awfully extreme.

I'd be surprised.

I think the more likely scenario is that TPTB use this as a tool to squash up-and-comers who have developed innovative techniques that skirt the current paradigm in ways that are questionably legal. Why fight it in court when you can just SOPA the site out of business?
