I've gotten around to watching all six episodes of the first An Idiot Abroad series. Think there was a thread on this some time ago. Anyway, it's about Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant sending the lovable dimwit Karl Pilkington to seeing the Seven Wonders of the World and along the way encountering awkward situations for mainly Gervais and Merchant's amusement. The second season of An Idiot Abroad is currently airing in the UK, but from what I've been told, it isn't nearly as funny as the first season although the last episode that's aired recently is by far the best this season.
It sounds like the Rickey Gervais Show. It was an animated show of him and Merchant just making fun of their stupid friend for 30 minutes. I'm a huge Gervais/Merchant fan but this show blew chunks. It was so tiring. But this did serve to remind me that for 13 episodes Extras was the funniest thing on tv. There were so many classic moments. The time that the girl kept confusing Samuel L Jackson with Laurence Fishburn, Orlando Bloom ranting about Johnny Depp...there are just so many great moments.
Oh, and I loved Extras too. I prefer The Office over Extras myself, as I thought quality-wise the former was a more consistent show. For flat-out LOL moments, Extras wins.
I don't mind Karl and the stupid things that he says it is the dynamic of Rickey and Steve laughing non-stop at the stupid things that gets really tiring. Related video from your link - Gervais' just acting like a moron. He's just annoying with Karl.

It is a slow relatively calm show, but I love it. The characters and dialog is top notch. T&A and more naughty words might be nice, but honestly after watching a few episodes I didn't even notice.
AMC is killing it right now, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and that new show Hell on Wheels premiering Nov 6th looks like it might be a home run as well. I haven't watched The Killing, so I can't speak to that show.

This season has been just as good. The Alaska episode wasn't great but the rest have been on par with season 1. The last episode was probably only the third best of the season though, behind 2 and 3.
Ah OK, I've only asked a couple of people and they prefer the first season. I'll eventually get my way around to watching the second season, either way.

Agreed. It doesn't seem like something they could drag out for too long, but I really enjoyed the pilot.
I really liked it too. It feels like it could take the road as Heroes where it flames out really quickly after the 1st season. Or it could drag out the plot through multiple seasons like Lost with a lot of episodes focused on certain fairy tales but without the mystery of Lost since you know how it is going to end.
Could be pretty interesting, especially on HBO assuming it gets a decent budget. The Stand miniseries wasn't too bad although there are always going to be things people are upset about being changed. Bardem is just about perfect for Roland.
