Need more help on picking 8 keepers

Postby squeezycook » Sat Oct 15, 2011 7:06 am

Hey guys, I was a member of Fantasy Cafe a few years ago and I always enjoyed writing back and receiving advice from other members. Im back again and I am looking for any other imput on my keeper list going into 2012. In our offseason we keep 8 players, then right before the draft we cut it down to 6 either through trades or plain cuts. I made a trade in the preseason and gained the team who finished lasts 1st overall pick for 2012 along with another teams pick in rnd one at the #6 spot, my 1st rnd pick is in the 9th spot and it is a 12 team league, we also have a minor league farm team for each team with prospects that we draft and plug and play. I will post players that I am thinking about keeping, slam dunks and marginal guys...I have an idea who Im keeping but I need some more advice on the matter.

These would be my top 8. Young team that will hopefully all come together at the same time for you. See if you can make some deals though, you've got some guys that you'd be dropping that may have value to some other owners. See if anyone wants to do a 2 for 1 for some of your youth where you can pick up a more proven stud.

There's your slam-dunk picks. Price squeaks in there because of his youth, Heyward because of his stratospheric upside, a disappointing season notwithstanding.

3B Mike Moustakas KC
1B Freddie Freeman ATL
OF Alex Gordon KC
RP/SP Aroldis Chapman CIN

There's another 4. Chapman's a bit of a wild card but from what I hear he's being stretched out over the winter to be a starter. He's young, he's absurdly talented, and he's worth a gamble. I'd put Ackley here except he's blocked by Cano. If your league uses a MI spot in addition to 2B I'd go Ackley. That gives you in infield, a couple OF and a couple pitchers. That's a great start. And with Montero on your farm team you can cross your fingers and hope that he managers C eligibility.

I also agree with the above poster - you've got some guys worth keeping beyond those 8. See if you can swing a 2 for 1 trade or two.
