Who are my best 7? whir

Postby CyboNinja » Fri Oct 14, 2011 4:37 pm

12 team H2H 6x6 (OPS, QS) can keep any 7 for as long as you want.

Right now I'm thinking my keepers are..

Matt Weiters
Joey Votto
Dustin Pedroia
Hanley Ramirez
Brett Lawrie
Desmond Jennings
Eric Hosmer

Some guys I'm on the fence about..

Mike Trout
Mark Trumbo
Jesus Montero (he will lose elig at C as he made no starts at C this year)
Bryce Harper
Colby Rasmus

What do you guys think? Any help is appreciated and always returned in kind. Thanks.

I agree. Don't think there is much to consider there.

The C position is really looking balanced at least 15 deep; the 2nd 10 might not be quite as good as the top 5 Weiters resides in, but its still alot better than years past. Kinda hard to recommend taking a 3rd first basemen over a top 5 C, but it is also hard to dismiss Trumbo's 29 rookie bombs. Not sure I can really recommend Trumbo over Weiters here but if you are looking for an alternative thats about it

You can't dismiss Trumbo's 29 bombs but it's good to put them the proper context. Like the fact that they went along with a .291 OBP

Don't second guess; you got the right 7. If you had to take anyone over Wieters it should be Harper or Trout.

This is what I was unsure of. A few of the other managers in this leagues have told me that I would be able to draft Harper with probably my 4th or 5th pick (round12 or 13). Trout I think is going to have to be my first pick if I'm gonna have him next season. Perhaps my second but I doubt he falls any farther then that.

Thanks for the advice :)

I think you should keep Mike Trout over Matt Wieters, and draft Bryce Harper in the draft as you mentioned. Mike Trout will have an every day job starting next season, and should keep it for the next 15 years. I would not be surprised if Trout finishes higher next season in the fantasy rankings than Wieters. He clearly has much more upside long-term. The only edge I'd give to Wieters is his position, but C isn't weak anymore. The reason I choose Trout over Harper is because I believe he will help more next season. The fact remains...Eventually you'll have to break up the outfield of Jennings, Trout and Harper. When you keep 7 players every season, I can't imagine recommending keeping 3 outfielders. The good news is, I think they are all going to be really good. If you play your cards right, you could have 2 of them long-term and trade the other for a stud at a different position. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Wish you could keep 9 and keep Trout and Harper.
