Would you keep Cruz?

Postby pjalst » Fri Sep 30, 2011 4:12 pm

Here is my list of possible keepers(We keep 10). Cruz is definitely a keeper on this list, but I am concerned about his increasing DL stints. I've been thinking about packaging Cruz with an SP and going after a SS(H Ram may be gettable ) or another Power bat (Bautista would be my #1 choice). Cruz is not getting any younger and his numbers have slipped in the past few years. Does anyone else think moving Cruz would be a good idea?

Possible Keepers
1B Joey Votto
2B Brett Lawrie
3B Ryan Zimmerman
LF Alex Gordon
RF Justin Upton
CF Curtis Granderson
LF,RF Nelson Cruz

SP James Shields
RP Brandon League
RP Heath Bell
SP Chris Sale
SP Josh Beckett
SP Yovani Gallardo
SP Ubaldo Jimenez

So the real question is whether or not you can trade Cruz? I'm all for it, if you can get someone to let go of a stud, go for it.

of course, if you can't work out a trade, then you absolutely keep Cruz.

Well it's not just Cruz I'm offering. It's Cruz and a solid Keeper SP or Closer. I'm sure that's got to be worth a Top 15 Hitter.

In order to sell high, I would wait until the pre-spring training rankings come out. They will indubitably and optimistically predict Cruz finally puts together a healthy season.

Also, don't count on Lawrie qualifying as a 2nd baseman next year, as he has played at 3rd in every game since his call-up.

Yes, I'm aware Lawrie played 3rd. I played him at 2nd because I had Zimm at 3rd. It also gives me the option to trade Zimm or Lawrie.
