12 team 5x5 Standard Roto League, 1500 IP limit Our roster positions are C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, IF, 4 OF, Util, 3 SP, 3 RP, 3 P, 7 Bench, 2 DL keep any 10 players indefinitely...these 10 keepers are your picks for rounds 1 through 10
I think I'm keeping these 9 players...
C Carlos Santana (Cle - C,1B) 1B Adrian Gonzalez (Bos - 1B) 2B Robinson Canó (NYY - 2B) 3B Jose Bautista (Tor - 3B,OF) IF Eric Hosmer (KC - 1B) SS Troy Tulowitzki (Col - SS) SP Zack Greinke (Mil - SP) SP Justin Verlander (Det - SP) SP Stephen Strasburg (Was - SP)
Who should be my last keeper from the following the 6?
Ike Davis (NYM - 1B) Andre Ethier (LAD - OF) Brett Gardner (NYY - OF) JJ Hardy (Bal - SS) Brandon Beachy (Atl - SP) Jeremy Hellickson (TB - SP)
You already have 3 top SP keepers and no OF keepers minus possibly Bautista. Scary if you ask me. Gardner's speed looks attractive. You already have one risky SP who will be limited next year (Strasburg - i mean in innings cap) and Hellickson will face that too. I think that Beachy will be counted on next year to a full season. I think he could push 200 IP next year. Hellickson pitches in a tougher division than Beachy and will face tougher matchups all season.
To me its between Gardner and Beachy. Speed is rather easy to get, but as easy as it once was. Though Gardner is primarily a one/two trick pony. Coco Crisp might be an equivilent draft day value pick.
Since this is a roto league with an IP limit give me Gardner.

Also, you might want to check if Bautista retains 3B with 25 games this season at that position.
I think any time you have more than 3 OFs PLUS a dh (or more than 1), you've got to keep some OF so Gardner's my choice. Beachy would be second but he has so much competition w/ Minor, Vizcaino, Teheran, etc that who knows what's going to happen. A few slip-ups and someone else might have his spot. Hellickson would be my 3rd choice, but I always try to shy away from guys pitching in the AL east. Maybe you can package Beachy, Hellickson, Hardy (since SS remains brutal) for a better OF than Gardner?
