How Bloated Will My Budget Be? WHIR!

Postby chargerss24 » Thu Sep 29, 2011 8:29 pm

I just won my first-ever baseball championship, and rather pretty easily. Now I get the challenge of keeping the players over for next year. I would like to have a rough idea how much my team will be over budget. Our prices won't come out until around December and will change weekly until they are locked in Feb. 1.

It's a 12-team, mixed, 6x6 (standard stat + Holds/OBP) league with a budget of $26 and can keep as many as we can in our ACTIVE lineup so long as we have enough money to bid on active positions we need in the auction. My team is below with last year's keeper prices next to them. I know a lot can happen between now and then, but I would just like an idea how much my team will be over the cap. WHIR as always!

Too hard to say. I don't think anyone can really tell you how much you are going to be over budget other than by a lot. You are going to have guys that are probably going to get over-priced like Asdrubal and Shields. Both of which are likely to come down a little from what they just did.

These are the guys I would look to keep:

Votto
Pedroia
Longoria
McCutchen
Upton
Gonzalez
Bruce
Hosmer
Verlander
Greinke
Price

Problem is that is a lot of talent and whether you can afford to keep all of them is going to be hard to say. If you do you are going to have very little to spend in the auction. A lot also depends on what your league is like. In most auction leagues, you want to keep the players with the best value not the best talent. So if Hosmer gets valued at .20 he is a better keeper than Votto because Hosmer is more likely to go for a higher price in the actual auction where Votto is likely to get taken at a smilar price.

I think you are just going to have to wait it out and see what prices your players land.
