NL-only keeper advice needed

Postby jruigrok » Thu Sep 22, 2011 2:09 pm

Standard 12-team NL-only 5x5 roto auction league ($260 budget).

I can keep six of the following players. I'm leaning towards the first six. Would you consider any of the others instead, or any that are decent enough values that I could consider keeping or trading? Do you like RDelgado or AVizcaino better? Thanks a lot!!!

RBraun $28
MKemp $31
JHeyward $13
DStubbs $19
JSanchez (SF) $8
RDelgado $3

BBelt $16
BParnell $9
JSchafer $9
JDarnell $9
CMorton $9
HBailey $8
JMcDonald $8
NSchierholtz $8
JMayberry $7
SLombardozzi $6
BPeacock $6
RDetwiler $6
HSosa $6
AVizcaino $3

Hey there,

I agree with you. I think the first 5 are no-brainers. Delgado is preferable to Vizcaino bc Viz. could end up as a reliever.

Please check out my keeper league question also on this board. Thanks in advance.

Can't you deal one of those OF for a stud infield keeper maybe two.
How about 2 of your stud OF for 2 stud INF prospects.
Maybe

J Heyward $13
D Stubbs $19
J Sanchez
for someone's
Ryan Zimmerman
Gaby Sanchez
and maybe
Bud Norris

type of package.

Yes, I'd like to make some trades, particularly 2 for 1, 3 for 1, etc trades to upgrade and get better position balance. Do you think any of the extra players have any keeper value? Which ones?

personally I like Mayberry, Belt and Parnell (in that order).

Mayberry is very risky, as there's only 1 open OF spot for him and Domonic Brown to fight over. However, he's hit really well this year. If you have to decide soon I would try to trade him, but if you can wait until Spring Training, he's someone who would be a great value IF he started.

Belt will likely start in the San Francisco OF next year, and if he's guaranteed a starting spot could go somewhere in the 20's in an auction (IMO). I understand he wasn't great this year, but he hit well (again) in AAA, and was jerked around in the majors.

With Parnell its all about if he gets the closer role, so like Mayberry you'd have to REALLY believe that his skills will earn him the job to keep him now, but if he is given the job will likely be worth significantly more than 9.

Delgado's lack of K's concerns me, so from a skill standpoint I prefer Vizcaino. However, Vizcaino could be put in the bullpen again next year.
