Keeper Time......WHIR

Postby misterf » Tue Sep 20, 2011 4:13 am

Time to decide on my keepers.

Its a 10-team, standard 5x5 rot league......we keep 10 players per year w/ no restrictions.

Here are the no-brainers:

2b: Brandon Phillips (position scarcity)
3b: Jose Bautista
ss: Troy Tulowitzki
of: Justin Upton
of: Josh Hamilton
sp: Tim Lincicum
sp: Cole Hamels

Here are the candidates to fill the remaining 3 spots:

1b: Paul Konerko
1b: Kendrys Morales
3b: A-Rod
of: Carl Crawford
of: Desmond Jennings
sp: Yovani Gallardo
sp: Madison Bumgarner
sp: Shaun Marcum

So, who should fill the remaining 3 slots on my kepper list?

Obviously,if you disagree with anybody I put on the "no-brainer" list, please let me know.

Thanks in advance......of course WHIR

of: Justin Upton
of: Josh Hamilton
sp: Tim Lincicum
sp: Cole Hamels
1b: Paul Konerko
3b: A-Rod
of: Carl Crawford

For me the last spot is between
2b: Brandon Phillips and of: Desmond Jennings......

If this is an ESPN league (with 4 OF, MI, CI) I would keep Jennings...if this is a yahoo league (3 OF, no MI or CI) I would keep Phillips

I'd go Konerko (you don't have a 1b, he's consistently productive)
A-Rod (he's had health issues, but he's a good skill-position player, and Bautista can play OF)
and Marcum

I'd skip Jennings (small sample size), Crawford (stinko year, skills down, scares the crap out of me), and Morales (who knows if he'll be healthy).

Jennings vs. Marcum was the hardest choice.

Please check out my Lester vs. Kennedy post and let me know what you think.

I would keep Desmond Jennings automatically. Add him to your top list in my opinion...look at his numbers now, only getting better. bumgarner is overrated in my opinion. gallardo i like but i feel like you will be able to draft him. marcum is solid but you might get him in the draft too. id go crawford, morales for last two. a-rod has name recognition that you may be able to trade....

Those are my 3. I gotta give Crawford one more year to prove he can handle the Boston scene. It may be a little risky, but if he pans out then its straight cash homie.

I would go with Konerko, Crawford, and Jennings.

Konerko is the no-brainer for me because of the consistent production.
I think Crawford will bounce back, but this is a small gamble.
Jennings is the big gamble here, but he is so talented(multiple category player) I'm willing to.

Editing my opinion - Bumgarner over Marcum, fo sho.

So, A-Rod, Bumgarner, Konerko.

I'm going to go against the grain a little here. I would avoid Crawford because he is still a "free swinger" who strikes out too much. There's no need for his speed in the Boston line-up with younger players doing the running. A-Rod has been injured too much the last few seasons and I would like to see Morales make it through spring training before choosing him as a keeper. I am impressed with Jennings and the pitchers Gallardo and Marcum are both solid starters. I get to keep 10 in my league too. Any help would be appreiciated viewtopic.php?t=437054
