Alcides Escobar or Furcal for Finals? WHIR

Postby mhuhn23 » Mon Sep 12, 2011 12:31 pm

Hey all, hope everyone else is having good results with their teams coming into playoff time. My league has the finals this week, made it in as the 6 seed in a 12 team keeper league. My team surged in the 2nd half of the season and is really coming together now, as I've won both playoff matches by scores of 11-4 and 10-5. Now facing the #1 seed and division rival in the finals and looking for help.

Since Hanram went down I have had both Escobar and Furcal. I've been platooning them based on matchups and hot streaks. I want to use just 1 of them for this last week. I want to add Jason Motte to give myself a 4th closer, possibly helping anchor my pitching stats. I want to keep Hanley for 2012 and I'm sold on the rest of my roster going into the finals, so its one or the other between Escobar and Furcal.

Leave a link to your questions/topics and I'd be happy to give my opinion. Thanks!

Escobar doesn't have to face the Philly staff but it would be tough for me to start him ahead of the leadoff Furcal despite the easier pitching matchups. If they are equal in your eyes and matchups is your key than you could go with 6 home games and Escobar; I believe Chi Sox are going with a rookie SP Wed.Having said that I'd still feel silly starting the lesser player and have Furcal go off

As much as it's tough bc of the matchups, I think I prefer Furcal. That said, is Bonifacio or Dee Gordon available by chance? Their speed is game-changing.

Help me out?

Furcal is garbage.
Alcides Escobar is who I'd go with if you have no other option.
