I have to choose one pitcher of these three:
Yovani Gallardo, one start vs. Edinson Volquez (CIN)
Ryan Dempster, two starts vs. Brett Myers (HOU) & Mike Leake (CIN)
Chris Carpenter, one start vs. Jeff Karstens (PIT)
Dillon Gee, two starts vs. Chien-Ming Wang (WAS) & Brandon Beachy (ATL)
I'm not in love with two-start pitchers. I'm strongly leaning towards Gallardo vs. Volquez, who has been up and down at the Minors this year, or Carpenter vs. Karstens who has been sidelined with shoulder fatigue. Dempster is pretty erratic, and Gee is more of a stop-gap option.
Who do I go with?
