Wow. What a horrible summer for hockey. Three enforcers die, 2 of them by way of suicide. Then today Syd announces that he is still suffering concussion symptoms and won't start the year, may even be threatening his career. Then the bombshell news of an entire team dying in a plane crash in Russia. Pavol Demitra, Ruslan Salei and Brad McCrimmon. wow. Just awful news.

That plane crash hits home for me, even though I'm not a hockey fan. When I heard the news, I couldn't help drawing parallels to the Munich Air Disaster of 1958, and like Munich, this disaster was avoidable. Incredibly tragic and heartbreaking.
