Morneau droppable in dynasty?

Postby superjags99 » Fri Sep 02, 2011 11:36 am

It's a 10 team 5x5 roto. I traded for Lind last season when Morneau got injured, then was able to get Hosmer in the offseason. So I'm OK at 1B this season and I think Hosmer will be very good in future seasons.

That being said, I'm leaning towards not dropping Morneau and keeping him at least until all-star break next season. I just think Morneau could struggle with this concussion stuff for the rest of his career, and might never get back to the production of his past. I've had him on the trading block, but his value is so low it's not really worth trading him.

Guys I could pick up are:
Jemile Weeks
Lucas Duda
J.D. Martinez
Jonathan Sanchez

Post your roster....

Do you have to play a MI, CI, etc....?

I too have Morneau in a 12-team dynasty and am leaning towards dropping him as I already have Adrian Gonzalez and could use the depth at 2b or 3b....In a 10-team I'm thinking it'd be ok to drop him.

Help with mine?

Hey, thanks for the help. I don't have MI, CI but I do have LF, CF, RF positions and then 2 Util spots.

My lineup currently looks like this:

C - R. Martin
1B - Hosmer
2B - Cano
3B - Sandoval
SS - Andrus
LF - Logan Morrison
CF - BJ Upton
RF - J Upton
Util - Big Papi
Util - Lind
Bench - Reynolds
Bench - Morneau
Bench - Heyward
Bench - Chris Young
Bench - Belt
DL - Rasmus
DL - Posey

Unfortunately Ortiz is only DH eligible so I can't stick him anywhere else but Util spot, however Hosmer, Reynolds, Morneau, Lind and Belt are all 1B eligible.
If I had to guess, LF is probably my biggest question mark going into next season. But I have Belt (as long as he gets 6 more LF starts) and Morrison who can hopefully hold it down.

I don't think Morneau is worth holding onto in a league that shallow. The deeper the league gets, the more you need to hold onto his upside. But with waiver wire options as good as those, I might just play the hot hand or take a flier on more youngsters. I would drop him for Weeks or Martinez without question.
