I rank him as "someone else's problem". The K rate is amazing, but he's still only had one great season. Still gives up too many ER. Decent WHIP. Seems cursed to not get Wins.
Is Zach Greinke the best "one-cat starter" out there?
He's arguably displaying better skills than his Cy Young season, and I'd be confident drafting him right after the surefire aces next season. His upside is a top 5 SP, IMO...

He's ERA is sort of misleading, he doesn't normally get hit this hard and he got hit very hard in his first couple of starts (5 hrs in his first 5 starts). Once he starts keeping the ball in the park that ERA will start to come down, he also doesn't have the greatest defense behind him. I'd feel safe drafting him knowing that he's healthy.
Well the reason I'm asking is a guy in my league has offered him to me for Hanley Rameriz. He is also offering me his 3 rd pick but wants my 8th rd back. Hanley has two more years after this year that he can be kept before going back to the draft. Greinke has three more years. My two best starters are Beachy and Worley. I might consider doing the trade if he made it his 2nd rd pick which would be the 13 or 14 th overall pick.
Some guys are just prone to melting down an inopportune times, and maybe Greinke is one of those. ie: Nolasco, Vazquez. Good peripherals, but they have innings where they're completely lost and it ends up costing them all too often. He'll probably be under-rated next season, but I don't know if he's capable of having an elite ERA.
Assuming he doesn't get promoted too heavily in the off-season, I could see him as one of my targets for next year. The ERA should normalize, and with that WHIP and those K's he'll really contribute. Wins might be a little harder to come by, but for me considering competitiveness of team/team offense is more of a tie-breaker than a major component of my ranking strategy.
