That was the first earthquake I've ever felt in my life and I live by Philly. Anyone else feel that? Apparently it happened in Virginia and was a 5.9/6.0

Well, earthquakes can happen anywhere in places you wouldn't envision having quakes. Haiti was a relatively "random" place to suffer a high-magnitude tremor, for example. It's just that they're more frequent and deadlier in places where tectonic plates clash.
I'd say what you guys experienced out there is more of a once every 200 years phenomenon than anything.
