Can anybody help me understand what would need to happen in order for Wandy to get traded after the deadline? I know it has something to do with clearing waivers which I'm thinking is very possible with the money he's getting.
The Yanks are concerned to say the least about their rotation going into the playoffs. Being that I traded for him anticipating a trade (which is a mistake I would not recommend) I would love to see him in pinstripes.
With him pitching so well and being a solid second half pitcher, does anybody anticipate a possible waiver trade?

I highly doubt that Wandy would clear waivers. I think a lot of teams would be content to put in a waiver claim on Wandy especially a team in the playoffs. He makes a lot of money but 3/36 after this season is a bargain and a lot of teams would sign a Wandy cailber pitcher in free agency for that.
So the best case for a trade imo is that the claiming team (by waiver priority) is serious about trading for him and willing to give something up. A team could claim him (block another team) and have no interest in acquiring him since they know that Houston won't let him go for nothing.
I'm still hoping for a Pavano trade or waiver claim. Please.
It's not a bargain, but it's not far off market value either. There are doubts about his composure in high pressure (read: AL East) situations, which I've heard is why there wasn't a bigger push for him at the deadline. But yeah, he should be claimed by somebody, and the Astros might even let him go just to get the money off the books. They're not going anywhere anytime soon so maybe they wanna save a few bucks.
i will be stunned if he clears. NL teams get first crack so perhaps Milwaukee completely breaks the bank and goes even more all in to solidify the back end of their playoff rotation? If not them then surely NYY or Boston will put in a claim.
