My team is in 2nd place by 4 games. If I remain in 2nd and receive a 1st round bye, Beltre has a chance to return to my lineup as Playoff Week 2 is September 4 (Beltre is scheduled to return Sept 1). If not,I will probably have to drop Beltre anyway for another 3rd baseman. I already have Han-Ram and Hanson on my DL spot. I recently got Jurrgens and McCann back and now Ortiz is hurt.
What would you do? Wait on Beltre or drop Beltre for Encarnacion (best option at the moment)?

This is a very tough decision since your playoffs start soon, but I'm leaning towards thinking you should hang on to Beltre. He is a top-tier 3B when healthy.
my roster has changed a bit - I only have 1 catcher and 1 offensive bench player.... I hate to drop any pitchers who have high strikout rates because the WW is bone dry in pitching.... I have been playing 1-2 ofeensive players short for the last couple weeks and still winning a few categories... someone would scoop up Norris or Santos in a heartbeat off waivers...

this looks to be a really tough decision. to start I would forget the stats Beltre had last year. I don't think he is THAT good. I would also have to consider whether Beltre will return 100% healthy or not. then also look at that most of Beltre's stats come at home in Texas. his road numbers are not that impressive. then again Encarnacion's road numbers are not that impressive either. Encarnacion is interesting this season. he hasn't had the power you would have expected, but his AVG has been higher than in previous years. I wouldn't expect Encarnacion to continue hitting the way he has in August (.388/.524/.653/1.177). what can one expect from Encarnacion? July? (.313/.377/.531/.909) June? (.258/.313/.532/.846) May? (.236/.257/.333/.590) I'm not sure what to expect from Encarnacion.
right now if Beltre is healthy I think I would have more confidence in him to produce better than Encarnacion, that is if Beltre is fully healthy.
