Our deadline is Friday. My team is pretty much out of it so I'm trying to upgrade my keepers for 2012. I'm asking for any thoughts or suggestions. I managed to get Hanley away from a very stubborn owner (viewtopic.php?t=436347) and I'd like to get another player of similar talent for next season. Now a lot of the owners in this league (about half) consider their top keepers to be sacred cows. As in they will not part with them for fair value or just flat out won't at all no matter what (about 4 of the teams are like that).
Some players I know for certain are untouchable... Cano, Kemp, Tulo, Grandy, Bautista, Verlander, Halladay, King Felix, Posey, Hamilton, Lince, Pedroia
Basically I'm looking for any advice you kind folks are willing to offer me. Which players should I try to sell? Who should I try to target? I inherited this team midway through last season and it was a mess. I've come a long way but I long to be competitive in this league 2012! Of all the leagues I participate in, this team is the one I care about the most.
Also, who would you keep aside from the obvious ones (Hanley, Votto, Pablo, Utley, Harper). I'm leaning towards Jennings and Lawrie. Bourn is undervalued in this league for some reason so I know I could draft him with my 1st pick (8th round) if I wanted.
Personally, I would try to move Utley. He may prove me wrong, but I have a feeling this years injury is a sign of things to come and he will likely just lose trade value from here on out.
I would try to trade for Kershaw, as I think he has a higher ceiling then Lincecum. Especially once the Dodgers get out og their current ownership mess and put together a good team.
I would definitely keep Hanley, Pablo, Votto and Harper. The other two I would keep are Trumbo and Lawrie. Package Utley and Hosmer to get Kershaw. Even if you have to throw in Jennings who cares because you ain't gonna keep him anyways.
Not to be rude but why not? He seems like hes found some power in his 3rd year.
I was on the fence too with pablo. It's hard to guage him. He had a great 2009, a poor 2010, lost some weight and is having a good 2011. Will he keep it up? Or will he revert back to old habits this offseason and report to camp 20 or 30 pounds heavier? Its possible. I hope it doesn't, because I recently traded for Pablo in my dynasty league. But it is a risk. If you could trade him for another solid, less risky 3B I would. But, as of right now, I would keep him.
Are you trying to compete next year or are you willing to prepare for 2013. Because if you really want to compete next year youre going to have to deal for some pitching. Is Matt Moore on the wire in your league? If he is I would grab him asap or Shelby Miller. Both will be great adds to your team. If you can grab either of them I would try to package Utley Sandoval for someone like Kipnis or Ackley. You can try to deal Wieters to someone too. Maybe package him with one of the keepers I listed below to upgrade at that position maybe with Utley or possibly with Hanley for Reyes. If at all possible see if you could target Freeman offer Hosmer plus anyone on your team you arent planning on keeping. Overpay with a non keeper if you have to because theyre gone after this year anyway.
If I were you I would keep from your current roster
Votto Utley Jennings Hosmer Lawrie Harper Hanley
Keep C Napoli 1 Butler/Davis/Hosmer/Dunn 2 Young/Utley/Zobrist 3 Moustakas SS Bonifacio/E Cabrera OF Grandy/Choo/Reddick/Kubel SP Anderson/C Lee/Oswalt Haren/Moore/A Sanchez RP Soriano/Myers/Johnson/Aceves/Parnell

I'm just not a fan of his. If you like him, it's ok. Never has scored 80 runs. Only had 70 rbis once. I know he missed time this year, but even projecting 600 abs, he still in the 70 run/rbi range. Yea he will hit 20+ hrs. I like Trumbo more myself.
