Yes, a very large one. I still think there should be a larger penalty (for the player) for not signing if a team picks you in the first round.
Why should the player be penalized? Teams can draft anyone they want, the players don't declare themselves eligible like you do in most other sports. If Beede had zero intentions of signing why should he penalized because a team decide they wanted a shot at talking him out of those intentions.
I don't think it was at all a bad idea him for him to go to college. Money isn't a big issue for him right now and he has a great chance to get top 10 money in a few years.

Not disagreeing with you, but if a player has zero intentions of signing, he should make that clear to the major league teams so that they dont draft him.
