Next year keepers

As usually it is now time to start looking at who to keep for next year. I am in a 12 team H2H points league where we get to keep 5. Here are my notables:

Miguel Cabrera
David Wright
Matt Kemp
Justin Upton


Jay Bruce
Jason Heyward
Eric Hosmer
Josh Johnson

The first group is almost set in stone unless someone can convince me otherwise. The next group is kind of hard. All of a lot of potential but have not put together a good enough season for me think they are better then the others. I have them in the order I think they rank but would be interested in your opinion.

Well you have a stud group there...

I don't disagree with your final 4 rankings, but think I will put notations by them.

Bruce (starting to show me that he is very streaky...but has put up better number this year versus past)
Heyward (definitely not sold on him as he is in a solid lineup and just not living up to standards...would probably bump Hosmer up over him)
Hosmer (seen a lot of good things out of him, yet the fact remains he plays for K.C.)
Johnson (if healthy, he would be the easy choice, but he is not...if you think he will be back to normal next year, he is definitely the man to consider)

I think it would be between Bruce and Johnson...Johnson if all signs point toward a full recovery and healthy 2012 campaign)

If Johnson wasnt hurt or shutdown every season this would be really easy but that makes it a lot harder. I would still take the chance on Johnson though. He is a stud by all means. I dont like how streaky Bruce is.

He had playing with an inner ear infection the past couple weeks. Yes he is a lil streaky (all players are) but that is something to keep in mind.

I would definitely keep Bruce as my 5th.



In a perfect world, you can offer whoever has Tulo a 3 for 1. Bruce, Johnson, and Heyward for Tulo or Braun, or Hanley or some super stud.

I would stick with Hosmer. While he plays for the Royals, the Royals have so many young studs coming up in the next year that they could surprise and be competitive. That will give Hosmer a lot of opportunity.

Bruce is just too streaky for me, Heyward hasn't lived up to my expectations and Johnson is never healthy.

Have you considered trying to package Bruce/Heyward/Hosmer for a stud like Cano, Kemp or Braun?
