How strictly are baseball deadlines actually enforced? How do they keep track if all the deals are actually completed by midnight, rather than say fifteen minutes after?

if i remember correctly, the paperwork has to be at the commishs office by the deadline
This Lawrie kid is really lookin' good. I've seen different people claim, each with conviction, that he'll play either 2B or 3B next year. He's played all 10 of his games as a 3B so far. Is there any reason he won't remain there next season, aside from speculation about Joey Bats wanting to play there or Edwin Encarnacion? Either way, he seems like a welcome addition to the ridiculously sparse fantasy 3B ranks next season.

Bautista actually wants to play RF rather than 3B. There is almost no chance Lawrie moves back to 2B. And it's looking more and more likely that EE will be back with the Jays, likely as the DH.
