I have an opportunity to trade for Jay Bruce before the trade deadline tonight in our league. I am curious if he is much of an upgrade from Chris Young. I know Young has been in a slump lately but he is on a playoff team and is batting 4th or 5th in the lineup. He is capable of putting up similar power numbers down the stretch and SB's.
But all the teams the Reds are playing in September are teams that Bruce has smashed this season. So I am torn here.
Bruce could be kept in the 3rd round, and Chris Young could be kept in the 8th round, which I haven't decided if I would do or not yet.

How far back are you? I'm not sure I'd keep chris young regardless but I'd be wary of giving up a good pick unless you can get some good traction for this season.
Well I am in first, but will possibly be 2nd after this week because of all my injuries. I feel like I have a very good shot of winning it all this year since I just acquired Chris Carpenter.
Here is the deal on the table, and the other team said he would accept:
My Chris Young and a 10th round pick for his Jay Bruce and a 15th round pick
Go Bruce, Young hasn't put it together for back to back seasons very often and Bruce has the easiest hitters schedule the rest of the way and is a big time second half hitter. Won't get huge value next year in the third round put Young might only perform like a 7th rounder and Bruce could easily perform like a third rounder if not a 2nd
I hate to say it because I drafted Chris Young and I like him but I would probably go with the Bruce side. He's got more pop potential than Young even though they might end with a close amount of HRs..In the end I think you slightly win with this, and it should help for the stretch run, so I would do it and not worry so much about the picks. Thanks for your help on mine!
