Is Starlin Castro a Keeper?

Postby TheGhost » Sat Aug 13, 2011 12:04 am

Just wondering what people think about "keeping" Castro. We keep our players based on where they were drafted and then get to keep him at a round higher the next year. I would get to keep Castro for a 17th round pick. That seems like a no-brainer, but do I want to keep a guy with little pop and not a whole lot of speed. I'm just worried that he's a much better real player as opposed to a fantasy player. Thoughts? ;-D

yes

Castro is the 5th ranked SS this season, 1st in hits, 4th in runs, 5th in RBI, 3rd in AVG, 13th in SB, 14th in HR

and some guys who rank above him in the counting stats are barely rosterable, B. Wood, Betancourt, Barmes, Nunez ... that puts him top 12 in all fantasy stats.

Yes. 21 years old, highest ceiling of all the shortstops. Power and speed will improve. Hitting machine so you know he will be consistent with that.

His power is starting to come now too. Looking at this point like he can be an AVG foundation for your team and if the power continues to develop watch out.

0.440 SLG% entering today's game (4-5 tonight). That ranks 6th best amongst all short stops. He's only 21 too? ;-D
