I'm in a 12 team MLB keeper league where one can keep 7 players. I'm dabbling with an idea that may or may not be smart. My current keepers are Longoria, McCann, Wright, BJ Upton, Verlander, Lee, and Wainwright. Colby Rasmus is on the bubble as a speculative keep.

I'm debating on trading Longoria to get Haren and ARod. Longoria and Haren can be kept for 2 years while ARod has only one left on his contract. My questions are these:

1) Is it likely that Longoria and ARod's production will be similar next year? Longoria is obviously an upgrade over ARod, but *if* ARod stays healthy most of his numbers might rival Longoria's even if he'll be 37.

2) Should I even bother? Getting Haren is mainly an idea to be used as a trading chip to other owners who maaaay want a pitcher to keep. If I can move any of the four to help upgrade somewhere else, it might be a good option to have.

I would keep Longoria. His value is down this year (w/injury), but I fully expect a bounce back year next year.

I wouldn't be against dealing Longoria, since you have Wright too, but you should be getting a stud 1B or OF in return. ie. Braun, Fielder, type. Also, keeping BJ Upton in a 12 team, 7 keeper is not good.
