So I was offered Eric Hosmer, Gordon Beckham and Phil Hughes for Jonathon Papelbon. I could use a 2B now that Getz is going to get less playing time... and Hughes should get some wins with the Yankees offense behind him... Thoughts?
Thanks!
I am in a 19 team, head to head league.
Here is my current roster:
C-Ramón Hernández
1B-Derrek Lee
2B-Jonathon Herrera
SS-Rafael Furcal
3B-Emilio Bonifacio
OF-Curtis Granderson
OF-Jose Bautista
OF-Carl Crawford
UTL-Garrett Jones
BN-Josh Reddick
BN-Jason Varitek
DL-Alex Rodriguez
SP-Roy Oswalt
SP-Derek Lowe
SP-Mark Buehlre
SP-Trevor Cahill
SP-Bronson Arryo
RP-Jonathon Papelbon
RP-Antonio Bastardo
RP-Leo Nunez
RP-Matt Lindstrom

Is it a keeper league? if so, I might go for this,
Hosmer could be huge next year.
Beckham has to bounce out sooner of later.
Papelbon might be moved out of Beantown if his salary is out of wack.

Hosmer and Beckham represent upgrades. You basically would punt saves with this move. I like having a good offense in a deep league and this move would shore up all your lacking slots. Hughes though might not remain in the rotation for very long so either way you'd have a viable RP arm to replace Paps with who isn't a world beater at this point. I'd do this deal and hope Beckham continues being productive.

I have Leo Nunez I can count on for saves as well as sometimes Bastardo.
Don't really need Hosmer as I already have Lee and Jones at 1st/utility...
I was thinking of making a counter offer of Papelbon straight up for Youkillis...

This would be fine, but I'd pass on the 1st offer as you don't need Hosmer - Beckham will only give you more at bats with no production, and Pap is more valuable than Hughes.
