Oswalt for Heyward (WHIR)

Postby BUCCOFAN » Sun Aug 07, 2011 7:49 pm

TRADE UPDATE BELOW (SEE THREAD)

I am in a deep 15 team league, (Auction/Fantasy Points) currently in 2nd place, and could use some help in my OF since I dealt away Stubbs and Gordon in the past month. Players have 3 year contracts then go back into the draft, SO I would be renting the following players. for Oswalt, who just returned today in mixed reviews vs the Giants.

I GET:
OF - J.Heyward $3(3) (free agent at seasons end)
P - D.Lowe $3(3) OR E.Jackson $5(3) (both are free agents at end of season and would be on my bench only needed in emergency, plus there cheap)

I said I would never touch E.Jackson but maybe a change of scenery is what he needed, struggled vs Brewers last time out.

I TRADE:
P - R.Oswalt $15(2) (has one year left as a keeper @ that price)

I'd take my chances with Oswalt. Heyward still isn't the same player as last year.

If you're just renting, then hold oswalt cuz heyward clearly hasn't figured it out yet. Or go for a better hitter

I agree ... Just too risky with heyward. Aim for a more stable option.

Help me?

Since its a rental how about shoot for a 'rental' Beltran? That makes PERFECT sense to me :)

TRADE UPDATE:

Just got offered the following, instead..... which makes this a no brainer now right?

I GET:
OF - M.Bourn $8 (2 years left of keeper eligibility)

I TRADE:
P - R.Oswalt $15 (1 year left of keeper eligibility) Not to sure about his "future"

That would leave me with the following rotation down the stretch drive, in a 15 team league we start 8 pitchers (starters or relievers) is that enough depth?
STARTERS:
CC.Sabathia $37 (1)
J.Beckett $37 (3)
Y.Gallardo $39 (1)
T.Hudson $3 (3)
R.Vogelsong $3 (1)
C.Luebke $1 (1)
R.Hanrahan $1 (1)
H.Street $1 (3)

BENCH:
P - J.Vazquez $1 (1)
P - D.Bard $1 (1)

I would jump on that in a heartbeat! Cheaper, solid bat, solid team around him...

Take that and the next two years and be very very happy!

I'd make either deal, with Bourn being the 1st choice.
