Keeper League Trade Help

Postby deerayfan072 » Sun Aug 07, 2011 11:10 am

H2H league with standard cats except OBP instead of AVG and QS instead of Ws

Keeper rules: keep 8 players, but only 2 can be from rounds 1-5 and 2 from 6-10. Also, we have minor league players who you keep going into the next season without penalty. If a player goes over the rookie limit of IP or AB you can keep him for free for that season, but have to add that person to your roster before the first game of the next season. I have put the keeper rounds next to each player

The trade offer:

Josh Beckett (15)
Vance Worley (24)
Matt Cain (3)

for My:

Jeremy Hellickson (minor league, so does not count as 8 keepers)
Anibal Sanchez (15)

I am currently 1.5 games back from a playoff spot and 7 back from 4th place overall, so this trade I think makes me better for this season, but not sure I want to give up Hellickson for the future. Also, he offered Moose with Beckett and Cain in a seperate deal. Would that be a better deal and should I take that? (moose would not cost me a keeper spot)

My Roster:

C - M. Montero
1B - Fielder
2B - E. Young
3B - Sandoval
SS - Reyes
OF - Hart, Jennings, Pence
Util - Howard
BN - Alvarez
DL - Weeks

SP - Price
SP - Kershaw
RP - S. Santos
RP - Bailey
P - Nunez
P - Uehara
P - Porcello
P - Nolasco
P - C. Lee
P - Sanchez
P - Hughes
P - Norris
P - Hellickson

Minor League Players
Jennings
Hellickson
Taillon
Presley
Goldschmidt

Any help on either deal would be appreciated!

I kind of like both deals, you have a solid rotation as is, and getting Beckett will increase your chances for winning this year, same goes with Cain. PLUS you get a nice "wild card" in Vance Worley who has been lights out for the Phillies. The second deal, is more of a "prospect" swap as you would get Moose in that one, and I don't think it would help you enough down the stretch this year. Worley will still help you this year @ the backend of the Phillies rotation Halladay/Lee/Hamels/Oswalt/Worley (unbelievable rotation!!!)

I think it also matters how long you can keep the young stud Hellickson around, if he doesn't cost a keeper slot now, what about the following year?

The next season Hellickson would count as a 24th round keeper and would go down one round every season, so having young studs is huge in this league (one guy has Hanley in the 21st round)

Kind of why I am interested in the Moose deal. Curios as to peoples thoughts on how good he will be. I grabbed Alvarez in a deal 2 years ago and right now I am regretting it. Also, for this season, Hellickson is being limited in innings and I expect him being shut down towards the end if I were to make it far in the playoffs
