He's done for the year, from his Yahoo! profile:
Aug 6 Hawpe underwent Tommy John surgery on his injured left elbow Friday and will miss the rest of the season, according to the Padres' official website.
Recommendation: Hawpe has been on the DL since late June, and though the official reason for the placement was a finger injury, he was also dealing with an elbow injury at the same time. When Hawpe's elbow failed to respond after several weeks of rest, the decision was ultimately made to undergo surgery. Hawpe's recovery is expected to take about nine months, and since his option for next season would pay him $6 million, expect the Padres to exercise their $1 million buyout. Hawpe may hook on with another team this offseason, but don't expect to see him on back on a major league year until sometime next summer.
