Number 1) The wife joined our family/friends league, but is clueless. How much should I help her? For instance she I know she'll need holds, but I don't want to run her team. She also has Reyes, and I'd love to get him, but how can I work a trade with her?
Number 2) As much strategy as ethical: One team picked up Contreras in the draft thinking he will be the primary setup for Rivera, but he's not and I wanted him. Should I tell him and work a trade? Or should I let him find out by himself and lose ground in holds?
Thanks for your input.

Re #1) You probably broke the cardinal rule when your wife joined the league. Your only option (since I assume keeping a happy house is more important than winning your league) is to help her as much as you possibly can and don't do any trades with her. Trading with her is a lose-lose prospect. If you end up improving more than her you'll get accused of taking advantage. If she ends up doing better she'll start telling everyone how she's better than you at the game.
Re#2) If the guy with Contreras is just "some guy" then it's all good for you to make him an offer. If he accepts it then any problems are his. You don't have any duty to tell him the value of his players. I
Bluto: Over? Did you say over? NOTHING is over until WE decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL, NO!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.
1) Personally I would have not wanted spouse in league as it can just lead to problems on and off the field. I would avoid all trades with her as it can only lead to hard feelings by her or fellow owners. I would likely point her toward websites with good information so she can choose to help herself if she so chooses.
2) You should never try to mislead someone to help yourself. You should just make a trade offer for Contreras with no comment about the holds thing. Personally I would also try to get Jose as I think he's going to have a great year as a starter. To try and mislead the other guy as to his value as a reliever to get him on your team is wrong.
1) You can help her as much as you want, but I would never trade with her, and be wary of who you drop to waivers/who she picks up. If she has #1 priority for instance, and you drop a decent player (who she claims), the other owners could justifiably be upset.
2) If you trade for Contreras, and the other owner incorrectly believes Contreras is a MR, that's his problem. If you actively try and convince him that Contreras is a MR, then its unethical IMO.
#1-My wife isn't that competitive. Like I say, it's mostly a family thing as her sisters and other bro-in-laws in it too. I was mainly curious as to how other owners might percieve our actions. So, no trading. Sucks because if Reyes were on any team I could probably snag him.
#2-Believe me, I would never mislead anyone. To get him to trade I HAVE to tell him the truth, because as long as he thinks Contreras is an MR, he won't trade. So the question is do I keep quiet while he falls behind in holds, or do I want contreras bad enough to tell him he's wrong about him being an MR, thereby letting him in on the fact that he's deficient in the cat.

2.) By all means tell the other guy the truth if it will help you get Contreras. Or even send him an article stating that Contreras is a starter. The Truth is never Unethical.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. -Crash Davis
Stewie : [watching a baseball game] Why does that man drop his club before he runs? I would bring it with me!
2.) By all means tell the other guy the truth if it will help you get Contreras.
Yeah, I think that I am going to tell him and try to trade. After all, he'll figure it out after one start. Plus, if Contreras gets a win and a load of Ks, I'll never get him!
Thanks Everyone!
