I am currently in a 12-team H2H league and am in first place. However, the manager in 2nd place just made a very good trade which will greatly improve his team. Both of us are most likely going to face off in the finals, so I am really looking for another starting pitcher that could help me around that time.
In order for me to pick up Santana (to stash until he is eligible), I am going to have to activate J.J. Putz, which would require me to drop two of my players (drop one, activate Putz, and then drop another player to Add Santana). I would most likely cut Alexi Ramirez and Jason Werth, where I could scoop one of them back up when they clear waivers (hopefully). Do you think that I should make this move? The manager in 2nd place will have an open roster spot tomorrow after his trade goes through, and since he is a HUGE Mets fan, I am pretty sure that he will pick up Santana to stash.
My Team:
C - V Martinez 1st - Votto 2nd - Pedroia 3rd - Zimmerman SS - S Castro OF - Granderson OF - Ellsbury OF - Bautista Util - Morse
Looking at your situation I dont think you should. Maybe cut one of your relievers if you do, do you need that many? Im thinking of doing the same thing, lol.
10 team h2h C Jesus Montero 1b Butler 2b Phillips 3b Beltre SS Rollins OF Braun, Rios, Craig, De Aza Util Ortiz SP Felix, Bumgarner, Zimmerman, Haren, Hammel, T. Hudson, Lynn, Gee RP Jansen, Reed, Cook, Santos DL
why wouldn't you just drop one player, add santana, and then switch him into your DL spot thus activating Putz? I don't see why you'd need to drop 2 players here. maybe I'm missing something.
Because I haven't activated J.J. Putz from the DL spot yet. In order to successfully drop/add any other players, he cannot remain in that slot and must be moved onto the active roster.
I decided to do it last night and outright dropped both Alexi and Werth last night in order to stash Santana. I then noticed that Alex Gordon was a FA, so I picked up Santana, DLed him, and then picked up Gordon for my bench. The reason why I finally decided to do it was because I will be very interested in Brett Lawrie as well when he gets called up, so they'd both have to go sooner or later. If Santana comes back in late August and pitches well, he could be VERY valuable to me in the fantasy playoffs.
I am going to make room NO MATTER WHAT for him tomorrow when my acquisitions reset. If you wanna win the playoffs you gotta take some risk. I adde Rich Harden and hes helped a good amount if your going to take a chance on Santana you might as well take a chance on harden as well
