Hey guys, regular poster on the basketball side here, but not so much for baseball.
So I've got a pretty significant saves lead and I'm looking to make a 2 for 1 deal and either trade a hitter+closer for a hitter upgrade or SP+closer for a SP upgrade. I've been offered Ellsbury for Tex+Kimbrel, which seems like a lot to give, but Jacoby has been great this year, better statistically than Tex. If I go with the hitter+closer for a hitter upgrade approach, I'm going to want an overall improvement in runs scored and RBI the most, but really a small improvement in as many hitting cats as I can get. I'm leading the league in saves by 31. In terms of upside for gaining points, I need more HRs and more RBI on the hitting side. Of course, that's where Tex contributes. I would need to maintain runs scored and RBI or I could quicky start losing points.
On the pitching side, I am looking for SPs who can get me wins with 5+ ks per game and good ERA and WHIP, but really, who isn't.
In terms of roster management, I could use a bench hitter so I wouldn't have a huge problem trading a closer straight up for a hitter if necessary.
I'm thinking the framework of a deal is here but a counter is neccesary. What do you guys suggest looking at our rosters below? Try Tex+Valverde for Ellsbury? Markakis+Kimbrel for him? Anyone is tradeable, just trying to construct a fair deal here. I know this guy is looking to move his innings cap guys - Zimmerman and Pineda - if that helps and I know he doesn't want to trade Kershaw for Kimbrel.

well one player i would look to target on his roster would be r. zimmerman, you would be buying low and his production will be much better than ty. ellsbury is a great OF but with the Yanks in the race you have to assume that he is in tow for a tear like ushual right at the end of the season and playoff time for us
thanks for the comment. which hitter+closer combo do you think would be fair for zim? reyes+valverde maybe as a starting point? tex+valverde seems like a little much. I have enough of lead in saves that I could probably even do kimbrel+valverde/bailey.
id like owning tex long term hes 4th rated one bag on espn prk this is gonna be his best year as a yankee adding jacobys good but you know he can get injured tex is a mountain
thanks guys. markakis+tkimbrel for ellsbury got shot down and the other guy made it clear he likes ells over tex. thinking i need to take this another direction or else i will be stuck overpaying for ellsbury. the crazy thing is that tex's strong points are RBI and HRs in the last month, ellsbury has been better than tex in all 6 of our hitting cats including a little better in HRs and rbi.
on the other hand, i have a nice surplus of saves and the last thing i want is to be stuck with all these extra saves come our trade deadline.
You can afford to give him Tex + ... I just think Tex + Kimbrel is a bit much. Perhaps with a lesser closer i'd so it given that lineup ells hits in front of.
I agree with above thats too much. Go with original deal just get someone in return. Tex will hit more rbi and hr then ells in the next 2 months for sure!!!! Tell him that. You could use some speed on your lineup so dont hesitate to gets ells. Looking at the rosters he does need saves. How about you go with tex and feliz. Feliz, keep your eyes open for the bell texas trade.
ideas original deal get someone back rauch for example
do tex and feliz or your worst closer in your view for ells
