Should I take either of these trades?

Postby chillpony » Wed Jul 27, 2011 4:38 pm

Hey everyone,
I am in a competitive H2H league, and my team was extremely disappointing this year. I am 3-12, in the cellar and think my chances of coming back are slim.

Scoring:

BA - Batting Average
BB - Walks (Batters)
H - Hits
HR - Home Runs
R - Runs
RBI - Runs Batted In
SB - Stolen Bases
SLG - Slugging Pct
Pitching Categories
CG - Complete Games
ERA - Earned Run Average
K - Strikeouts (Pitcher)
L - Losses
QS - Quality Starts
S - Saves
W - Wins
WHIP - Walks + Hits / Inning

I have put everyone on my team, besides Votto and Trout (Keeper league) on the block for now. It is a 5 man Keeper league, but 2 of them are Minor League keepers for that season. I thought I oly had 2 minors, 2 majors, so perhaps I will hold on to the Weave nless i get another young stallion in return....

I have received a few trade offers for Jared Weaver

1.) Ricky Romero
Danny Espinosa
Shane Victorino

2) Jason Heyward
Ben Zobrist
Kyle Lohse
Brandon League

I would have to toss in Soria in deal #2.

Here is my Roster
C- Y. Molina
1B- Votto
2b- Jemile Weeks or Kipnis
3B- Pedro Alvarez/ Danny Valencia
SS- Y. Escobar
OF- N. Cruz, C. Hart, A. Ethier
U- Teixera
BN- Trout (Keeper/Minors pick)

SP- Weaver, Billingsley, Josh Johnson, Colby Lewis, Jordan Zimmerman, Ricky Nolasco, john Lackey, Matt Harrison, Kevin Correia
RP- Soria, Chris Perez

Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Weaver may be worthy Keeper pick, but i am hesitant with the flux of pitching and would rather keep some bats and 5 cat. potential guys like Trout....

don't like either of the deals especially #2 giving up way to much league isnt going to get you to many saves with a 16gm losing streak and heywerd is having a down year. plus you're giving up soria a top sv. guy. I would look for a better deal

How many keepers?

Only way I do deal #2 is if Heyward would be a keeper. He is having a bad year but he does have enormous talent and might be worth buying low. The other deal doesn't really improve your team enough along with losing Weaver as a possible keeper.

only 2 keepers. I like Heyward's upside too but with only 2 how could i not keep Trout and Votto.

I just received another trade

Cuddyer
Pence

for Weaver

no way,, but what if i request Vance Worley??

So you only get two keepers?

I don't really see how any deal benefits you since you already have your Votto/Trout keepers.

It doesn't really matter what trade you make. You have no shot at a title, and you can't add to your keepers. This whole discussion is a moot point.

No deal. If you have only 2 keepers than you need to be receiving a keeper in return. I would also argue that Weaver should be your keeper over Trout. In so many players available on draft day, you should be looking at 2 top 25 players for next year. What I would look at is trading Weaver and Tex for a top 10 player. Maybe you could get a Kemp, Justin Upton, Tulo, Cano or something along those lines. Really the worst thing you could do is keep Trout, it will set your team back next year. Odds are pretty good he won't be taken in the first round with that much talent available so you should be able to get him back and not sacrifice keeping two top tier talents.
