Ethier and Bonifacio for Lincecum?(WHIR)

Postby kidsilk » Wed Jul 27, 2011 1:19 pm

13 team, roto style league with Runs produced taking the place of RBIs for hitters but standard 5x5 cats everywhere else. I am currently in 6th place with a strong offense and weak pitching. My pitching staff doesnt look bad on paper but they just haven't lived up to the hype yet this year. Anyway, even though my pitching kinda sucks I am within striking distance in ERA, WHIP and can move up in wins as well. I have kind of given up on saves since this is an NL only league and noone will trade a closer.

Anyway, I have been offered Tim Lincecum and my choice of Matt Diaz or Willie Harris for my Andre Ethier and Emilio Bonifacio. What do you guys think. This is a keeper league so I will have Timmy for a while if I get him. But, is he enough to spark my pitching comeback? Should I do it?

Here is my team:

C-Hanigan
C-Navarro
1B-Overbay
2B-Bonifacio
SS-A. Gonzalez
3B-McGhee
MI-Barney
CI-Wood
OF-CarGO
OF-Ethier
OF-Bourn
OF-Hawpe
OF-Roberts
UTI-Morgan
BN-DeWitt

P-Bills
P-Gorzo
P-D. Hernandez
P-D. Hudson
P-UBaldo
P-Kuo
P-Latos
P-Lilly
P-Luebke
BN-Medlen
BN-Cashner
BN-Oswalt
BN-Padilla
BN-Broxton

In terms of pure value I like that deal a lot for you. I happen to own both Ethier and Bonifacio in my money league. Ethier has been a disappointment to me this season and I don't know if it will get much better with LAD in shambles. Bonifacio is on FIRE right now and I'm loving it, but who knows how long he'll keep it up.

Timmy is a legitimate stud and is a great guy to have in a keeper...nevermind an NL-only keeper. If you're close in several pitching stats I think it's even more reason to do it.

I'd almost say to just ride it out with Ethier and Bonafacio. Ethier has been kind of downer but i think next year bonafacio will be a stud. Florida will be a very good team next year and he can only be the beneficiary. I like LIncicum but with Latos, luebke, ubaldo, hudson you should be fine!

ride it out with ethier and bonifacio??? are you serious??? hit accept before this guy changes his mind holy moly!

ethier's numbers have gone down every year, and bonifacio has these 3 week hot streaks here and there and besides that is waiver fodder. this is simply ethier for lincecum and that's a no brainer.

Exactly this. When I saw somebody picked Bonifacio up in my league, my first thought was "oh, I bet he's on a hot streak right now." Clicked his name and that's all I needed to see. Give him 2 weeks and he'll come back down to earth.

Lincecum all day.

Take this one hands down -- dominant pitching makes a huge difference come playoff time and like they said, Bonifacio's magic fairy dust may run out.... put another way, he could turn into a pumpkin come September.
