Quentin for Rasmus/Ogando?

Postby howardryan6 » Wed Jul 27, 2011 12:07 pm

Hey guys,

Would you do Carlos Quentin for Colby Rasmus and Alexi Ogando in an 8-soon to be 10-team, h-2-h keeper? I know Quentin has better stats than Rasmus but Colby is four years younger and is going to be calling the fourth best hitters park (for homers) home now that he's a Blue Jay. Here is my roster.

C - David Ross (McCann - DL)
1B - Mark Teixeira
2B - Dustin Pedroia
3B - David Wright
SS - Starlin Castro
OF - Curtis Granderson
OF - Ryan Braun
OF - Josh Hamilton
OF - Carl Crawford
OF - Carlos Quentin
Util - Adam Lind
DL - Zack Cozart

SP - Tim Lincecum
SP - Cliff Lee
RP - Mariano Rivera
RP - Joal Hanrahan
P - Javy Guerra
P - Craig Kimbrel
P - Neftali Feliz
Bench - Josh Collmenter
Bench - Ryan Vogelsong
Bench - Aaron Harang
Bench - Carlos Villanueva
Bench - Jeff Karstens
Bench - Justin Masterson

I am currently in third place but the fifth place guy is still in the race. Let me know what you think.
Jay Bruce is mah franchize. I love you Chris Davis!

Probably - provided you can keep a quite a few players year to year.

We can keep five hitters a year and five pitchers. Rasmus wouldn't crack that five but neither would Quentin. Additionally, Rasmus, under 25, still qualifies as a youth keeper for our minor league system so I can hold onto him at the end of the year. Who do you expect to produce more for the rest of this season?

I'd prefer gambling on Rasmus as a young disgruntled player who gets a new lease on life can really play well. ;-)

I agree. That being said, Quentin, when healthy, has proven he can hit 30 homers a year and drive in 80+ runs. Even with a low average, at least those are expected numbers. Would you still do the deal if Quentin were dealt to the Phillies before the deadline? In that line-up he could see an increase in pitches to hit.
