struggling pitching

Postby gibby7 » Tue Jul 26, 2011 3:32 pm

right now my pitchers are
tim lincecum
zack greinke
tommy hanson
michael pineda
ted lilly
jeremy hellickson
neftali feliz
rich harden
phil hughes
francisco liriano
mike leake
josh johnson.

my pitching has been horrid the past two weeks, even my aces. but phil hughes liriano lilly and harden have all made my era whip and k/bb terrible.

david hernandez joe nathan and gavin floyd are all on waiver...

i would probably drop lilly hughes and harden for those three which would give me neftali joe nathan and hernandez for saves....

do i drop those? i know lilly and hardens era have been terrible, but i like a pitcher with a great k/bb and generally a good whip, cause that usually speaks to a good pitcher. i know hughes has been terrible, im dropping him if he blows up against seattle.

hernandez, nathan andd floyd have been fantastic lately with great whips and k/bb.

opinions?

You are going through a low so no panic too much... Still, I'd lose Harden for another pitchers..... even Nathan.

What rookie pitchers are on the waiver wire? I would keep an eye on Mike Minor or Julio Teheran, those are names being thrown around that the Mets are after from the Braves. (although I doubt they deal Teheran) If one of those land on the Mets at the trade deadline they will be up immediately. Also, sticking with the Mets, it may be a month out but you may be able to pick up a couple quality starts from Johan Santana if he makes it through his rehab starts with no problems. Might be a guy to keep an eye on.

Do you have an IP limit? If not, and you have the open spot I would look at some middle relievers with high k/bb rates and low ERA, such as Aaron Crow and have them in your lineup in between starts to help weight those numbers.
