Well, if it's not a keeper, I'd absolutely do it. What Jennings has done recently is best-case scenario.
If it's a keeper, I'd maybe be slightly concerned, but still you're getting Dan Haren. In my mind, this is a no-brainer. A 1.00 WHIP? Low 3 ERA? 120 K's?
Scherzer has come no where near that this year, and I don't see Jennings being SO good that this trade is slanted.
I'm taking Haren, and then adding an OF from waivers to replace Jennings.
(In reference to an Aaron Hill for David Price swap)

its close but i wouldnt do it....just dont trust haren in the 2nd halves......i like the idea if u can get a stud sp in return for those 2, but it has to be someone better than haren
Haren's 2nd half woes are well documented, but it's not like he's ever turned into a below average option at any point. Even though he was one of my preseason favorites, Scherzer has been below average for much of this year. Worst case scenario this deal works out with Scherzer and Haren posting pretty much identical stats (they are remarkably similar pitchers), and all you really lose is Jennings. While I love Jennings long-term, the chances of a Braun/Posey-like breakout are slim and he's more likely to give you Adam Jones production at best. That's useful, but the downside is also significant for a guy who was hitting below .280 in the minors this year and similar production can likely be found on the ww. The name just won't be as sexy (Nyjer Morgan?).
