Nickname Project

In lieu of an old NYT article from last year, I wondered if maybe us at the Cafe could take it upon ourselves to rid the game of incredibly lame nicknames (V-Mart, A-Rod) in place of some of the creative names of days past (Cool Papa Bell, etc.). I propose this process be as such: A player will be suggested and ideas will be thrown around which would then be followed up by a voting thread with the best ideas voted upon.

Example:

Step 1: A-Rod thread
Step 2: Ideas
Step 3: New A-Rod thread for final vote

One of my favorite parts of the game's past are all the cool and distinctive nicknames that gave each player a certain identity. I think the current lack of creativity in this area actually takes away from the game to an extent. I thought it would be kind of neat if we could put our collective heads together and churn out some fun and creative names for some of our favorite players.

Anybody on board with this idea?

I think it would be cool, especially if everyone took it seriously. I'll take the current fantasy rankings and we can move our way down.

I actually think you should make a poll of 10 players at a time by fantasy rankings, with multi-choice available, and the top 2 vote getters get nickname threads.
