With only a couple of weeks until the playoffs, I'm currently in second place, so I should be in the playoffs (6 teams) and hopefully can stay in 2nd to get a bye in the 1st week. With David Wright back now, I have a surplus of good hitters, causing me to lose out on HR's by LoMo and CLee yesterday because I have no room for them, so I want to trade a hitter for another decent pitcher, or do a 2 for 1 upgrade. I offered Mark Reynolds for Gio Gonzalez with the 3rd place team who is one of the bottom in HR's. He declined it, but countered back with Berkman for Vogelsong. Here is his team:

Berkman has too much power to give him up for someone like Vogelsong, but what sort of reasonable counter offer should I make? Thanks for any help, WHIR

Actually, I think that's a pretty reasonable trade already. Yours was a tad outrageous, to be completely honest.

Berkman is more than easily replaced, as you have already mentioned when saying you wished you could have played Lee or Morrison.

Often times people will make the mistake of thinking they need to get fair value in any potential trades, when all that really matters is that you're getting what you need and you're able to replace what you're giving up.

Are you getting what you need? Yes, you're getting a good starter.

Are you able to replace what you're giving up? Yes, and quite well with Morrison. I'd actually rather have Morrison than Berkman over these last two months anyway.

Beyond that, I personally think the trade is fair value anyway. I'd do it.

I definitely agree, you should upgrade at catcher. And with all the excess hitting you have that shouldn't be too hard for you to do.

I've actually been streaming catchers so that I can ride guys' hot streaks and be able to pick up spot starters and hitters on days with fewer games. I've actually already dropped Ramos for Valencia yesterday (he went 2-4 with 2 runs) and now have Molina at C.

What do you guys think about this counter offer that was made to me: I'd give up Logan Morrison and Tim Stauffer for Matt Garza? Is Garza really much better than Stauffer since neither of them do much for me in the win column?

No Garza is not that mcuh better then Stauffer, at this poiint I may want Stauffer more.
