3 runs so far in 3 innings isn't batting practice in my eyes. I went to check Beachy's line expecting something like 1.2 IP 8 ER but so far he hasn't been horrible. Bad, yes, but he has time today to work it out.
Also, the two starts before last weren't miserable at all. 5 ER in 11 IP with 12 strikeouts and no walks.
He's developing a bit of a HR problem but then again his BABIP is a bit high despite having been a FB pitcher so far sooo
Rocinante2: you know Rocinante2: its easy to dismiss the orioles as a bad team ofanrex: go on Rocinante2: i'm done Rocinante2: lmao
His fastball stinks. The slider is actually a very good pitch but he doesn't seem to know what to do with it or how to commit to it. I'll give him a little time to square things because his K/9 is great and if he doesn't walk people the high FB may not kill him, but I will certainly entertain offers for him given his body of work, hoping to deflect the focus from his recent poor spell.

That's the difference between watching the game and reading the stat lines. He is leaving pitches up and down the middle on a regular basis. The Braves announcers have been talking about it for several starts now.
Stay with him if you like. But he has visibly lost his confidence.
I watched the game too and I didnt see anything close to what you are describing. The HR Phillips hit wasnt that bad of a pitch. It was on the outside corner and was just solid hitting to the opposite field. And the only reason Phillips even came to the plate in the 1st inning was because Prado made an error on a routing grounder on the first play of the game - otherwise the inning would have been 1-2-3
Beachy did make a bad pitch to Cairo on the HR, but that pitch and another hit he gave up in a 2 strike count were the only real blatant mistakes I saw.
he did give up 4 BB's but 1 of those was intentional and he only gave up 5 hits total... not like he was getting lit up all game.
