Who has better trade value? WHIR

Postby Mateo de Lorenzo » Sat Jul 23, 2011 7:48 pm

Standard h2h 12 team keeper league. Was offered a 2 for 2 trade of me sending Cain and Neil Walker and receiving Gio Gonzalez and Brandon Allen in return. Cain would cost me a second round opick next year and I have no intentions of keeping him; Gio would cost a sixth round, which I likely would keep. Neil Walker would cost a sixth round pick next year (leaning towards keeping him) and Allen would cost a 20th round.

The Cain for Gio part I would do, but he won't do it 1 for 1.

I turned down Alexi Casilla for Walker part and he countered with Brandon Allen. He seems like he might be someone worth taking a flier on.

Thoughts? WHIR, leave link.

I would ask for someone a little more proven then Brandon Allen honestly. There is no telling how he will perform in the bigs.

You dont say what place you are in, so lets assume you are not making the playoffs.

In that case I do this. Since you are not keeping Cain there is no point of him on your team. And I would do Gio/Allen for Walker every day of the week.

Niel Walker is the key here. If you can stand to lose him, and you're out of contention, do this trade. Walker has been great, no doubt, but a 6th round pick is pretty steep. Think about your league/keeper status and all that - who can you replace him with? Who can you get in the 6th round next year? If you're not opening up a huge hole on your team, I'd do this trade. Getting Gio at a reasonable keeper price is a nice coup.
