Something of an odd statement, considering we just two years ago averted another Great Depression by bailing out capitalism with trillions of dollars of money - a socialist move, by the way.

But since we all collectively bailed out the businesses that were "too big to fail," at least we haven't had any economic problems since. ;-7

And so we're clear, you're welcome to save the rebuttal. I'm a moderate - I think you and the lefties are wrong.

Paper clips. The stapler has been in use for like a billion years and it does the job much better than paper clips.

Paper clips are good for popping the SIM cards out of iPhones if you lose the little key thing. They are also useful as a substitute for the tab on your zipper if you happen to break it off.

If they ever relaunch the McGyver series, I will retract my desire for the elimination of paper clips.

Staples are a much more 'permanent' way of holding paper together than paper clips. If I want to separate a few stacks of paper so they don't get all mixed in but I don't want them together 'forever' then a paper clip is a much better option than a staple. I do this, for example, when I'm putting together things I need to run photo copies of for my students.

That's why we have staple removers. All it leaves are two tiny holes.
